Meet Kara
Kara was born and raised in Saint Marys, Ohio. She’s the youngest of three girls and was blessed to become an aunt. After graduating high school, Kara went on to earn a bachelors degree from Wright State Lake Campus majoring in Organizational Leadership and minoring in Psychology. During this time Kara began to get involved with and volunteer for a local Catholic young adult group. This group helped her to grow a community of like minded individuals striving to grow in holiness and encourage her in her faith journey. She is so thankful for taking the leap and going outside of her comfort zone to discover the wonderful friends that God has in store for her.
Kara continues to reside in St Marys where she has taught high school religion for the last six years. She currently works for Crown equipment building controllers.
Without knowing why, fifteen year old Kara was drawn to Holy Rosary’s Adoration chapel. At the time she didn’t know what Adoration was, nor did she understand that the Eucharist on display was God Himself meeting her face-to-face. She just knew to walk twenty minutes on cold winter nights to that space where something just felt different. It wasn’t until a retreat her junior year of high school that she came to grow deeper in friendship with Jesus and take ownership of her faith. On that retreat and subsequent retreats, she really grew in understanding that that little piece of Bread is Jesus, and all He wants is a loving relationship with all of His children— including her. This was a pivotal turning point, but Kara still struggled with placing her worth in what other people thought or how she was performing in tennis or at school. Over time, the Lord really helped shift her focus more and more on Him and helped her to realize that she’s a beloved daughter of Christ before anything else. This theme of finding one’s identity in Christ can be seen throughout The Clutter as well as discerning one’s vocation, detaching from disordered desires, and finding healing through forgiveness.

Sharing Her Story
Kara’s love for reading and writing goes back as early as her elementary school days. By the grace of God, she collected multiple journals, poems, and short stories over the years which grew and blossomed into her story The Clutter: Sorting Through Life in Light of Christ’s Love. This realistic fiction story combined with Kara’s poems and personal journal entries is the result of a deep longing to share the joy of a life centered on Christ and what a great adventure even the most ordinary of days can be when He is in the lead!

Holiness is not a process of adding anything, but of subtraction. It is a removal of myself to make space for God. . . . Not I, but God.
